People

The people behind SkyGazer Labs.

A small Cambridge team led by the two founders who started it in 2010 — one who lived the problem, and one who has spent a career building the tools to solve it.

Co-founder

Darren Launders

Co-founder & Chief Executive Officer

Darren started mySymptoms because he needed it. Living with IBS, he spent years trying to connect what he ate and drank with how he felt — and getting nowhere with pen and paper. The idea took shape around 2001; when the iPhone arrived, he finally saw a way to build it, and co-founded SkyGazer Labs in 2010 to do so.

As CEO he leads the company’s direction and its move from a consumer app into clinical and research tools. He holds an MBA from Warwick Business School.

Co-founder

Damian Helme

Co-founder & Chief Operating Officer

Damian is an entrepreneur, software developer and mathematician with more than 25 years of experience across companies from multinationals to startups. He co-founded SkyGazer Labs in 2010.

His work sits at the heart of the product: the machine-learning correlation engine that turns a person’s day-to-day record into the patterns that point to a trigger.

The team

Behind the founders is a small, focused team in Cambridge — engineers, data scientists and support staff who live with these products for years and keep refining them alongside the people who use them every day.
